Unveiling Palette: India's Most Luxurious Hidden Gem (Mishtten Club & Resort)
Unveiling Palette: Mishtten Club & Resort - My Messy, Honest, and Unfiltered Take
Alright, buckle up, buttercups, because I’m about to spill the chai on Mishtten Club & Resort, the supposed “hidden gem” promising a slice of luxury in…well, somewhere in India. I'm not going to lie, I’m a sucker for a good spa day, so my expectations were sky-high going in. Did it deliver? Mostly. But let's get messy, shall we? Because, trust me, this place ain't perfect.
First Impressions (and the Slightly Panicked Drive In):
The accessibility situation? Okay, here’s where things get a little…Indian. While the website boasts facilities for disabled guests, I'd recommend confirming specific needs beforehand. Think beautiful, sprawling grounds, which is lovely, but also means getting around might require a bit of planning. There’s a designated car park [free of charge] which is a godsend in most of India, and the airport transfer was a lifesaver after my slightly harrowing flight (turbulence, folks, I’m telling you!). The exterior corridor gave me a slightly ‘motel chic’ vibe but I quickly got over it – after I'd confirmed my room was up to scratch.
Checking In: Smoothish Sailing… Almost.
Check-in/out [express] sounded tempting, and they do have a front desk [24-hour], which is reassuring. However, there was a slight hiccup with my pre-booked massage time (grumble, grumble). But the concierge swooped in like a superhero and saved the day. Speaking of, they also had a bunch of safety deposit boxes and, thankfully, a cash withdrawal option, because, you know, emergency gelato fund. And the Wi-Fi for special events? Never used it, but good to know.
Rooms: Where the Luxury (Mostly) Shines
Okay. The room. Finally. We’re talking air conditioning, blackout curtains (thank God for that!), and a complimentary tea selection that I, personally, demolished in about an hour. Free bottled water? Check. Alarm clock? Check. A mini bar stocked with… well, that I've already taken care of. I think the seating area and sofa were just gorgeous and they provided bathrobes and slippers, which instantly transported me to a world of pure indulgence. They had safety/security features – felt very safe – And what I really loved was the window that opens – vital if you want a taste of India's fresh air and don't mind a touch of the hustle and bustle outside.
Now, about that bathtub… Separate shower/bathtub are always a win in my book. The linens were crisp, and the towels… fluffy enough to disappear in. They had a hair dryer, which is a necessity for my mane. There was Internet access – wireless, yay - plus Internet access – LAN which is a throw-back, but hey, the choice is there. I checked out the scale and immediately regretted it because I'd already been eating the complimentary snacks (which were, admittedly, divine).
They also have non-smoking rooms, are smoke detectors and smoke alarms everywhere, and soundproof rooms – all good for a peaceful stay which you will need after what I'm about to tell you…
Spa Day: The Good, The Bad, and the Oil Spill (Kinda)
Okay, people, THIS is where Mishtten really tries to shine. The spa is gorgeous. I mean, seriously, Instagrammable. They have a sauna, steamroom, massage, body scrub, body wrap, and even a foot bath. And the pool with a view is a thing of beauty - swimming pool [outdoor] is amazing. I went for the full shebang: massage, body scrub, the works.
So, the massage itself? Heavenly. The masseuse was incredibly skilled, I swear I was floating in a cloud. I opted for the aromatherapy and it was amazing. The only problem? Someone (and I won’t name names, but it rhymes with ‘me’) may have gotten a little too relaxed during the body scrub and…well, let’s just say I temporarily became a walking oil slick. My fault, completely. But still, a minor catastrophe.
Dining: A Culinary Adventure (with Some Bumps)
The restaurants offer a range of cuisines, from Asian cuisine in restaurant to Western cuisine in restaurant. I can safely recommend the Asian breakfast which included some of the finest coffee/tea in restaurant which I consumed, and that breakfast [buffet] was a glorious sight. There's also a la carte in the restaurant and buffet in the restaurant, obviously, but on one occasion I got a bit lost. There's also a poolside bar, if you're into cocktails beside the pool.
I also had a salad in the restaurant, which was surprisingly good. They also have a snack bar and coffee shop, which is perfect for picking up something quick. Room service [24-hour] is a huge plus, especially when that post-massage bliss hits and you just want a plate of fries (because that's all I wanted). I'm not sure if I had alternative meal arrangement but everything was available - I needed it!
And yes, there is a vegetarian restaurant, if that floats your boat.
COVID-19 Precautions: Comforting, But…
Look, in a post-pandemic world, safety is key, right? They’re really trying! They have anti-viral cleaning products, daily disinfection in common areas, rooms sanitized between stays and profession-grade sanitizing services. They also do room sanitization opt-out available. They also provide hand sanitizer everywhere, and the staff look to be well trained. Safe dining setup and sanitized kitchen and tableware items are great touches too. I felt pretty safe.
However, there's a certain… lack of consistency sometimes. Sometimes, the physical distancing of at least 1 meter didn't always seem to be followed by other guests. And I've experienced better staff trained in safety protocol in order to avoid a bit of an incident.
Things to Do (Besides Eat and Spa):
Beyond the spa and the feasting, there’s a fitness center, and a gym/fitness. You can relax by the swimming pool (again, with a view!). I didn't get to that too much but I was extremely relaxed!
The Quirks, and the Little Annoyances:
- Getting around: The elevator was slow. I'd take the stairs instead.
- The mini bar was slightly overpriced so be careful there!
- I didn’t see any pets allowed but they’d better not!
- Some staff lacked English skills.
- The breakfast in room was a little delayed sometimes.
So, is it a Hidden Gem?
Look, Mishtten Club & Resort isn't perfect. It has its quirks, its imperfections, and its moments of mild chaos. But… it's also incredibly charming, incredibly luxurious, and offers an experience that's hard to beat. The spa, the food, and the overall vibe are fantastic. It is trying very, very hard.
Final verdict: Would I recommend it? Absolutely, with a few caveats. Go with an open mind, embrace the chaos a little, and prepare to be pampered. Just… maybe keep a close eye on your oil slick potential!

Okay, buckle up buttercups, because we're not just planning a trip to Palette - Mishtten Club & Resort in India; we're living it. Forget the sterile itineraries you find online. This is the raw, unfiltered, probably-slightly-chaotic truth. Here we go:
Palette - Mishtten Club & Resort: The Unofficial Guide to an Indian Adventure (with all the usual pitfalls)
Day 1: Arrival - Jet Lag, Joy, and a Disastrous Curry.
- Morning (or, more accurately, the eternal night thanks to jet lag): Landed in Delhi. The airport? A beautiful symphony of chaos. Cows, I swear, at least looked like they were checking for parking fees. Got through customs, which felt like an eternity of staring at my passport and hoping I hadn't accidentally brought any prohibited items. Did I? Probably. Didn't get caught. Score!
- Afternoon: The drive to Mishtten. Let me tell you about Indian traffic. Picture a swarm of honeybees had a demolition derby. Holy moly. Horns? Constant. Lanes? More of a suggestion. Found the resort, and it was stunning. Lush greenery, the air smelled of jasmine, and that initial, overwhelming sense of "Oh my god, I'm actually here". Check-in was relatively smooth, a small victory.
- Evening: Curry Catastrophe: Decided to be ambitious and try the resort restaurant for dinner. Ordered a butter chicken. Sounded safe, right? WRONG. The waiter, bless his heart, was struggling with my English. He smiled so much. The dish arrived, and it looked… delicious. Took a bite. Pure, unadulterated fire. I could feel my face turning red. My eyes started watering. I was convinced I was going to breathe fire. Chugged four glasses of water and then just stared at the waiter, who just kept smiling and nodding. "Enjoy, madam!" I was defeated. Ate plain rice. A very humbling experience. Also learned that day that food poisoning is a very real possibility. I might have been sick…
- Sleep: Eventually passed out from the heat and the curry, and jet lag. Slept like a log, with the distinct impression that I was being watched, only to realize that the feeling was still going strong.
Day 2: Poolside Bliss (and a near-drowning experience!)
- Morning: Woke up, surprisingly not regretting the dinner. Sun. Pool. Bliss. The pool was perfect temperature, a blue oasis. Spent the entire morning floating, reading, and just soaking up the atmosphere. The other guests were a mix of families, honeymooners, and people who looked like they knew what they were doing. I wasn't one of them.
- Afternoon: Decided to be adventurous and try the pool's 'deeper' end. Let's just say, my swimming skills are not what they once were. Nearly drowned. Clutched at the side of the pool, gasping for air, and feeling a profound sense of inadequacy. Lesson learned: stick to the shallow end. Then I saw a cute kid, so I'm pretty glad I survived.
- Evening: Dinner at a different restaurant. Tried something less spicy. Actually, ate all food… I was so proud! Also, ordered a cocktail. The bartender, a charismatic fellow, taught me a few Hindi phrases. Unfortunately, after a few cocktails, I forgot them all. I think I was starting to sound more and more like him in the process…
- Sleep: Another solid night, fueled by exhaustion and a sense of accomplishment (made it through the day without a full-blown panic attack!).
Day 3: Exploring the Area (and a brush with the sacred)
- Morning: Arranged for a local driver to take me to some nearby temples and villages. The roads were… well, let's just say they added another layer of adventure. Saw some stunning temples, filled with intricate carvings and vibrant colors. The air was thick with incense, and the chanting… it was mesmerizing, and I actually felt the effect.
- Afternoon: Wandered around a local village. The warmth of the people was overwhelming. They were so welcoming. The poverty was also painfully obvious, and I confess I felt a bit awkward, this privileged tourist. I still bought some trinkets. The whole experience left me with a lot to think about, a churning mix of beauty, respect, and responsibility.
- Evening: Back at the resort. Ate a much safer dinner. Ordered a gentle pasta this time around. My stomach and I were quite happy. Sat on the balcony, watching the stars, feeling a sense of peace that I hadn't felt in ages.
- Sleep: Rest, bliss, and a renewed sense of optimism.
Day 4: Spa Day (and the lingering scent of jasmine)
- Morning/Afternoon: Booked a spa treatment. Oh. My. Goodness. The massage was heavenly. The masseuse was a wizard, and she knew all the ways to put me at peace. The whole place smelled of jasmine and sandalwood. I drifted in and out of consciousness. I'm pretty sure I drooled. Couldn't have cared less.
- Evening: Packed. Realized I hadn't done enough souvenir shopping. Panic surged. Dinner at the resort was a subdued affair. Reflecting on my trip…
- Sleep: Sleep, and with the knowledge that the journey to come would make things more complicated than before…
Day 5: Departure - Goodbye, India. (Until next time…?)
- Morning: Final breakfast. Wandering the resort, feeling sad to leave. The staff, as always, were wonderful. Said my goodbyes, and promised myself I'd learn more Hindi next time.
- Late Morning: Heading to the airport. The inevitable traffic…
- Afternoon: Plane. Long flight. Reflecting. I didn't get it all done… In fact, I had the sense that I completed nothing.
- Evening: Home.
- Sleep: Jet lag returned, ready to go again.
Final Thoughts:
This trip wasn't perfect. It was messy, challenging, and at times, utterly overwhelming. But it was also beautiful, enriching, and unforgettable. From the fiery curry to the near-drowning experience, every moment, good or bad, contributed to an adventure I'll never forget. India? You got under my skin, and I'm pretty sure I'll be back. Just maybe… I'll learn to swim before next time. And maybe, just maybe, I'll stay away from anything that even looks remotely spicy.
P.S. Bring earplugs. You'll thank me later. And don't forget the bug spray. My goodness. The mosquitoes are vicious.
